A home has been found for what may well be the Island’s oldest house. Within a matter of months the old Vincent house which now stands on the MacKenty property on Edgartown Great Pond will be moved to the back yard of the Dr. Daniel Fisher House at the entrance to Edgartown proper.

This year’s Gifts of Art show and sale at the Carnegie in Edgartown opened Thursday with a reception for 10 local painters whose smaller-scale works are sized and priced for gift-giving.

In a ceremony well attended by donors, volunteers and curious Islanders, the Vineyard Trust dedicated and opened the Carnegie Saturday morning.

The Carnegie, the newly rebranded name for the old Carnegie Library on North Water street in Edgartown, is set for a grand reopening next month.
