As part of an effort to address a deteriorating school building and a growing student population, the Tisbury school committee will apply again for state funding to renovate the Tisbury school.
After a state application to renovate the aging school fell through, members of the town and school community hope to kick start a new effort. The school did not make it onto the funding list for the Massachusetts School Building Authority.
The chevron, the handlebar, the walrus, the Fu Manchu — these are just a few of the terms that have become part of the Tisbury School lexicon thanks to the movement known as Movember. This year the school used the growing of mustaches as a way to help the Island Food Pantry.
The Tisbury School held its Recognition Day for the fifth to eighth grades on Tuesday, June 17. The following day, they graduated 31 students from the eighth grade class.
Tisbury School students completed a project that wove together historical women with theatre. The eighth and sixth graders reenacted the lives of women in history.
Harvest Festival
The Tisbury School invites the community to its annual Harvest Festival on Sunday, Oct. 13, from 3 to 5 p.m. The festival includes a potluck supper, hayrides, pumpkin decorating and more. All games and activities are free but bring a dish to pass for the supper.
