Representation and education form the basis of the Martha’s Vineyard Diversity Coalition’s new program to give $300 grants to Island schools for books to promote racial equity.

Diversity training for Martha’s Vineyard police is on deck for later this fall, as a joint project with Island police chiefs and the Martha’s Vineyard Diversity Coalition gets under way, aided by a $17,000 grant from Permanent Endowment of Martha’s Vineyard.

Galvanized by a worldwide focus on racial inequity, the Martha’s Vineyard Diversity Coalition reached out to community leaders via Zoom Monday afternoon.
