Aquinnah town officials and Island affordable housing leaders gathered Friday on a cold hilltop to break ground on a new affordable housing project.

Daniel Consoni, a 29-year-old Edgartown resident, won the right to buy a one-bedroom loft in downtown Edgartown in a lottery drawing Monday afternoon.

State and Island officials broke ground Friday at Scott’s Grove, a project to build nine affordable rental apartments.

The Island Housing Trust has unveiled an ambitious plan to create 100 new affordable housing units on the Vineyard by the end of 2020.

Six Island residents were settling into new homes this week as the Island Housing Trust celebrated the opening of a new six-unit affordable housing apartment complex in downtown Vineyard Haven.
