On the last Saturday of July each year, the town of Oak Bluffs celebrates the life and spirit of late resident Della Hardman — educator, artist, writer and force for good.
Poets, writers, community leaders and family members honored the life and legacy of Della Hardman on Saturday, with the 18th annual Della Hardman Day held in Ocean Park.
Writer, artist, scholar, educator and neighbor — Della Hardman was warmly remembered Saturday for her many contributions to the Vineyard on the annual day that bears her name and has been celebrated since 2005.
A group of friends sat in an East Chop backyard, shaded by beach trees and oaks to remember a woman who was a teacher, writer, activist, friend, and mother to many. The day was Della Hardman Day.
