Featherstone Exhibit Has Pottery Down to a Teapot

Begin with a teapot. That’s the simple underlying premise for a group exhibition at Featherstone Center for the Arts opening Saturday, Sept. 6, entitled Teapots and More.

“The main thing needs to be a teapot,” ceramacist Washington Ledesma said, explaining that each artist who offers a teapot for the exhibit may bring up to four more pieces for display. If many artists bring many pieces, Mr. Ledesma hopes the show can spill out under a tent on the Featherstone grounds.

Fighting Fires With Fiery Resilience, Louisa Gould Gallery Marks Five Years

In the art gallery world, making it to the five-year mark demonstrates the stability and resilience necessary to survive in the competitive trade. As artist and gallery owner Louisa Gould prepares to celebrate her fifth anniversary with an opening of her own work and the creations of Ovid Ward and John Holladay, she has little time to rest on her laurels. By her own reckoning, the fifth year is just the beginning of the journey.

It’s a Bird, It’s a Photographer: Artist Launches Virtual Gallery

Lanny McDowell is having an opening this week that can take place in anyone’s home or office. He has opened a gallery on the Internet showing his fine art avian photographs. Anyone can go there by pressing a few buttons on the computer.

Most Vineyard artists have openings at galleries. They schedule a day in the height of summer to roll out their work, send out a box full of invitations and wait for the crowds to come. A reception usually includes wine and cheese and then after a week or so, the work comes down.
