Bouquets ready to bring home. Albert O. Fischer

All roads lead to the Ag Hall grounds in West Tisbury throughout the summer where growers hawk their home-grown and homemade wares, from tomatoes and salanova, to pies, honey and Vietnamese cold rolls.

Rooted deeply in the soils and the history of the Vineyard, the market was resurrected more than fifty years ago when farmers rented booths for the summer and sold produce, preserves, baked goods and crafts.

Today the market remains unchanged as an open-air venue for fresh produce straight from the earth. It has also become an unqualified business success.

And if that is not reason enough, it also just happens to be one of the best summer traditions on the Vineyard.
