Carol Ann Taylor of Brewster, and formerly of Chilmark and Hingham, died on Dec. 5.

She was raised in South Boston and earned her bachelors degree in education from Boston State College.

Carol worked for several years at Head Start in Boston and later owned her own childcare service. While living in Chilmark and raising her children, she also worked in real estate.

Family was the cornerstone of Carol’s life and she excelled as a mom and Nana. She enjoyed reading, knitting, sewing, watching the Bruins and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. She was a natural caregiver and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

Carol was the loving mother of Jennifer Rank and Andrew of Eastham, Melissa Mayhew-Tsiptsis and Marios of Pennsylvania, Benjamin C. Mayhew IV and Lisa of Brewster, and Amy Mayhew and Katie Bury of Brewster. She was a cherished Nana to her grandchildren, Aquinnah, Tika, Henry, Benjamin, Samuel, Steven and Alexandra. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was predeceased by her parents Robert and Margaret and her siblings, Doris Greene, Robert Taylor Jr., John Taylor, Mary McKenna and Margaret York.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during visiting hours from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 17 at the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home in South Weymouth. A celebration of life service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Dec. 18 at 8:15 a.m., prior to a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Brigid’s Church in South Boston. She will be interred at New Calvary Cemetery in Boston.
