James Peabody Penhune died on Nov. 1. He was 62.

He attended the Fenn School in Concord and graduated from Concord-Carlisle High School in 1979. He received his bachelor of arts degree in English literature and cinema studies from New York University in 1983.

For the last 50 years, he had spent summers on Chappaquiddick.

James worked in market research, technical writing and editing, irst for the Yankee Group and most recently for KPMG. For many years he was a book editor for David Bull Publishing and helped bring out books on race cars, racing and drivers such as Mario Andretti.

He loved reading, music, football and pit bulls. His knowledge of each of these was encyclopedic and he amazed everyone with his ability to remember the details of a novel, NFL statistics or the names of the dogs of his friends and neighbors.

James is survived by his mother, Nancy Penhune of Vineyard Haven, his sisters Sarah and Virginia and his lifelong fridn Mark Alcarez. Other members of his family include John and Marcellite Penhune, Marcellite Lasensky and Helen Blakes and her family.

Details of a memorial for friends and family will be announced at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Concord-Carlisle High School Scholarship Fund or to Sheriff Meadow Foundation’s Chappaquiddick fund.
