Joyce Leigh Look of Bourne died surrounded by family on Oct. 7 after a long battle with cancer. She was 66. 

She was born Nov. 18, 1956 in Oak Bluffs to the late Christopher S. and Marjorie H. Searle Look. She grew up in Edgartown and attended Edgartown School and the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School.

After graduating from high school, she went on to earn an associate degree from Mount Ida College and worked most of her life as a nurse’s aide. Most notably, she was a nurse’s aide worker for Windemere Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital.

Joyce was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Edgartown. She enjoyed spending time in her garden and was an avid crafter.

She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Joyce is survived by her son, Jacob Murphy; her sister Diana Butynski and her husband Jack; her sister in law Leslie Look; her nieces Kaitlyn Leber, Cassidy Look Jackson and their families; and her nephews Lucas Butynski, Seth Butynski, Matthew Look, Nathan Costa, Chris Look 3rd and their families.

Her family specially thanks Joyce’s cousin Stephanie Teller and her lifelong friend Patricia Mercier for their help with getting Joyce to her appointments and being there through this journey.

A celebration of her life will be held in the spring.
