Peter F. Johnson of Edenton, N.C. died on June 2 at the Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation Center in Hertford, N.C. He was 77.

He was born in Long Island, N.Y. on June 26, 1945. He was the son of the late Robert F. and Katherine Handrahan Johnson.

A U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, he received four Purple Hearts, the Combat Action Ribbon and multiple combat medals. His life, like his military career, was one spent in service to others.

He was a retired project manager in the commercial and industrial construction field who supervised the building of hotels and other large office facilities for many years in the Boston area. From 1989-2004, he and his wife Lili enjoyed living on Martha’s Vineyard.

Peter is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lili Taylor Johnson; his niece Amy Bishop; nephews Jim, Dan and Kevin Bishop; and other extended family members and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Dianne Bishop and Cathy Ann Johnson.

A memorial service to be held at Edenton United Methodist Church, where he worshipped, is planned for a later time.
