John McCarron, 59

John C. McCarron died Wednesday, Jan. 12 at his home in Edgartown. He was 59.

Known as Duzza, he was the son of Anne Bekker McCarron of Edgartown and the late Richard J. McCarron Sr.

A graveside service officiated by Rev. Paul Fedak will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 18 at 11 a.m. at the New Westside Cemetery in Edgartown.

Donations can be made to charity of choice.

Duzza had a very large public persona - full of laughs and mischief and hyjinx, for what his grand assortment of friends shall remember him…as he would want in my humble opinion. He also, secretly and safely below the radar, did very much for folks in need of a hand. He accomplished such without fanfare. At the very core of that fun loving fellow with an innate social magnetism was one helluva good soul. Godspeed John Christopher McCarron. You are already missed.

I worked with Duzza as a "pearl diver" at the Seafood Shanty in the late 70s and stayed friends with him from then on. A great kid then and a solid guy forever. Rest In Peace,Johnny.
