Stanton H. Bryden of Bristol, Vt. died May 19 at 5 p.m. He was born Dec. 14, 1921 in Oneida, N.Y. to Stanton and Bessie Bryden. He graduated from Tisbury High School in Tisbury in 1940. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1945. He graduated from the University of Vermont in 1948 and married Rosemary Bristol the same year. He owned and operated the Bristol Insurance Agency from 1949 to 1987. He was a charter member of the Bristol Rotary Club for many years. He was active in town affairs, serving as a justice of the peace and on the school board. He was a member of the Masons and American Legion Post No. 19.

In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing in the Northeast and in Canada. He and Rosemary also enjoyed many years wintering in Florida.

Stan is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rosemary, four daughters and their spouses: Linda Piasecki and her husband Charlie of Ferrisburg, Vt., Susan Mailloux and her husband John of Williamstown, Vt., Janet Krantz and her husband Ken of Tinmouth, Vt. and Cary Corse and her husband Jack of Cambridge, Vt., and one son, Bill Bryden, and his wife Phyllis of Starksboro, Vt. He also leaves 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank all his health care providers, including Patty Lewis of Bristol Internal Medicine and the staff at Eastview and Addison County Home Health and Hospice.

Arrangements are being provided by Brown McClay Funeral Home in Bristol. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, May 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Bristol Federated Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, with interment immediately following at the Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Stan’s memory to Addison County Home Health and Hospice, POB 754, Middlebury, VT 05753.
