She was a wonderful & caring person. Being part of the family was a beautiful time. Bless Grandma Betty & Papa Joe. So glad you are now together again.

Betty was a wonderful board member of the Martha's Vineyard Historical Preservation Society (now Historic Trust)and served from 1980 through 1992 when I was founding Executive Director. She was instrumental in driving our off-island Trustees to see the value of a Campaign to purchase the Flying Horses Carousel in 1986. I cannot say enough about her. My thoughts go to Joe and her grandchildren.

Mrs. Robichau was my 1st grade teacher at Edgartown Elementry School in 1960. She was very strict but also kind and understanding. Dick, Jane, and Spot were the characters of our daily reader. "Class, please bring in your milk money by tomorrow, 12 cents for white and 14 cents for chocolate"

I was in Miss Doubtfire's first class in the Edgartown First Grade with about 25 others. Every day she marked on a calender to the right of the blackboard the day's weather, sunny, cloudy, rainy. I have followed the weather ever since, probably based on her early teaching. A few years later, she and Joe Robichau married. Joe was our basketball coach. When our claas became seniors, we won the island basketball championship ahead of Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven. Betty followed our class because it was her first and was proud that we won. She told me, "it was so good." Those are her words.
