Edwin Irving Landers died on Tuesday, July 15, at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital of pneumonia and complications. He was 91.

He was born on August 11, 1922, one of five children of Ernest and Bessie Landers. Edwin was married to Olive S. Landers, who predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Leslie, Ralph and Arthur Landers, and his sister, Marion.

Edwin had many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nephews and nieces and a great many friends. He enjoyed fishing, dancing and gardening. He loved telling tales of his many life experiences.

He worked as a landscaper in the summer months and as a shellfisherman the rest of the year. Edwin also spent 20 years working for the town of Oak Bluffs at the Oak Grove Cemetery.

He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and cared for him. Edwin was a special person and very much loved.

He was predeceased by two sons, Edwin J. and Stephen Landers. He was survived by his brother, Herbert Landers of Oak Bluffs. He also leaves five daughters: Gail Landers, June Ferreira, Fay Marinelli and Beverly Tucker, all of Oak Bluffs, and Judy Hunter of Yarmouthport.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 27, at 12:30 p.m. in Oak Grove Cemetery, Pacific avenue in Oak Bluffs, officiated by Rev. Richard Rego.
