Stacy Marie Viera died unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday, March 11. She was 53.

Stacy was born in Oak Bluffs on Oct. 18, 1960 to John S. Viera Jr. and Beatrice Duart Viera.

She lived on the Island her entire life. Stacy graduated from Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School in 1978 and worked for the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital for over 30 years.

Stacy loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, as well as her large circle of friends. She also enjoyed relaxing in the Caribbean on her vacations, and with her friends on State Beach. She was very involved with the VFW and Portuguese-American Club, and was a passionate fundraiser for both. She loved crocheting blankets and putting together baskets of goodies to be auctioned off.

Stacy is survived by her son Joshua Cotterill, and her daughter Amy Cotterill Toth and her husband, Chris; and her granddaughters, Julianna and Roslyn Toth. She is also survived by her mother, Beatrice Viera; her sisters and brothers in law, Bertie and Donald Madeiras, and Debbie and Lewie Reis.

Stacy was a very giving and loving mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 22, from 11 a.m. to noon at the Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, Edgartown Road in Oak Bluffs. A celebration of Stacy’s life will immediately follow at the Portuguese-American Club, Vineyard avenue in Oak Bluffs. Please bring a dish to share and any picture you might have showing Stacy enjoying life.
