Gertrude (Trudy) Scheel Silvia died peacefully on August 6 at Sterling Village in Leominster. She was 92.

She was born on March 20, 1920 in Germany, the daughter of Ernest and Anna (Hiller) Scheel.

She enjoyed her home in Vineyard Haven. Her greatest joys in life came as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is already greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was predeceased by her husband William P. Silvia, who died on May 11, 2000.

She is survived by her son, Peter W. Silvia and his wife Karen Kazanjian and their children Andrew and Maya Silvia, all of Princeton; a nephew, Rodney Silvia, and his wife Karen and their daughter Kelly of Oak Bluffs; and a niece, Eileen Threm and her husband Bill of Tucson, Ariz.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff of Sterling Village for the loving and compassionate care they provided to Trudy during the nine years of her stay there, and especially during the last days of her life.

Funeral services were held in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Vineyard Haven.

Arrangements are under the care of the Curley Marchand Funeral Home in Leominster.
