Lillian Louise (Young) Whitney, 94, died on Thursday, July 26 at the Windemere Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Lillian was born on Oct. 28, 1917 in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of Edward Young and Josephine (Gettler) Young.

She was predeceased by her husband, Henry J. Whitney, and lived in Concord, before moving to Martha’s Vineyard to be closer to her daughter, Annie Mallegol. Lillian was an active member of the Holy Family Parish in Concord.

Lillian enjoyed knitting, baking and reading, and loved taking long walks and spending time with her great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Annie Mallegol and her husband, Andre, of Edgartown; her grandchildren, Andre J. Mallegol III, Scott Mallegol and Karen Driscoll and her husband, Robert; and five great-grandchildren.

Her funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth’s Church on Main street in Edgartown on Tuesday, July 31 at 11 a.m. Her interment will be private.
