Kevin Thomas Riley, 69, of Redding, Conn. and Chappaquiddick died suddenly at his Chappy home on June 9.

Born in Newark, NJ, on May 9, 1943, Kevin graduated from Seton Hall Preparatory School in 1961 and Seton Hall University in 1965 with a degree in Political Science. He and his family moved to Redding in 1976 and to Chappy in 1986.

Kevin was an executive in the insurance and reinsurance industries for over 40 years. His long career included work at The Traveler’s, Sweeny & Bell, General Reinsurance, TPF&C and Willis Faber. Most recently, he was principal of his own consulting business REcoverRE LLC, and served as Chairman and CEO of Mission Claims Service. Mr. Riley was a Certified Arbitrator and member of ARIAS-US and ARIAS-UK..     Kevin always enjoyed teaching himself new things; he was a student for life as well as a patient teacher and father. He is fondly remembered for his love of cooking, fine wine and Chappy. Kevin’s pursuits included a lifelong interest in scouting. An eagle scout himself he was an assistant scout master for troop 15 in Redding for many years. Kevin was also an active member of the Union League Club of New York for over 20 years.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Barbara, and brother Brian, as well as his children, Sean, Shannon and Kate and grandchildren Spencer, Connaught and Finnigan. Kevin was a dutiful father, devoted husband and loyal friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A funeral service will be held Friday, June 15, at 12 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Parish, 169 Black Rock Turnpike, Redding, CT 06896. All friends and family are welcome.
