John Wajda of lower Waterford, Vt., and formerly of the Vineyard and Methuen, died on Wednesday, Jan. 12 at the Tufts Medical Center in Boston. He was 43.

John was born on Jan. 20, 1967 in Stamford, Conn., the son of Lloyd and Suzanne (Bergeron) Wajda. He was a graduate of Methuen High School and later the University of New Hampshire with a bachelor’s degree in business and sociology.

He had worked for Goodale’s Construction Co. on Martha’s Vineyard for 12 years. Later he was a self-employed contractor working in the construction business. He and his wife, Amy, began and operated their own business in Waterford, Vt., Natural Cleaning Solutions.

John’s favorite pastimes included basketball, hiking the hills of Vermont and the beaches of the Vineyard. But most important was his passion for his family and his lord and savior.

Survivors include his wife and best friend, Amy (Lowe) Wajda, whom he married July 28, 1990; their five children, Allyson, Emma, Sarah, Elizabeth (Izzy), and Matthew, all of Waterford; his parents, Lloyd and Suzanne Wajda of Methuen; two sisters, Mary Towler and her husband Daniel of Salem, N.H., and Anne Bachta and husband John of Methuen; his mother and father in law, Ervin and Alma Lowe of Brooksville, Fla.; Amy’s family, Christopher Lowe and his wife Gwen, Brenda Pazar and her husband John, Thomas Lowe and his wife Roberta, Damien and Donald Childs; many nieces and nephews; and his church family.

Funeral services were held at the Union Baptist Church on Jan. 18 with the Rev. Pastor Paul Powers officiating.
