Heather D. Jardin of Oak Bluffs died on Dec. 8 at Brigham and Woman’s Hospital after a courageous battle with leukemia. She was 29.

Heather was born on Jan. 19, 1981, at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. She graduated from Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School in 1999 and later from University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a degree in horticulture.

Truly an artist at heart, Heather enjoyed painting, photography, horticulture and the yearly ritual of Halloween costume design. She took great pride in her work as the herb garden manager at Morning Glory Farm.

She was predeceased by her mother Lynn Jardin. She is survived by her fiancée Jesse Ward, her father Peter Fortin of Acushnet; her brothers Brandon Francis and Peter Fortin; a sister Brittany Fortin; her grandparents Frank and Phyllis Jardin; “Auntie” Karen Jardin and her children Jimmy and Derek; Gary and Nora Jardin and their children Heidi and Brittany; Wayne and Jackie Jardin and son Wayne; Sian Skatoff and her children Justus, Stephanie and Evan; Diana Jardin and Greg McCollum and their children Bianca and Arianna; Rick Brennan and children Richie, Stephanie and Danny; Debbie and Phil Regan and their children Shelby, Jared and Jeremy; and her beloved dog Wylie. Besides her mother she was predeceased by her aunt Irene.

A celebration of Heather’s life was held on Saturday, Dec. 11 at the Portuguese-American (PA) Club in Oak Bluffs.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 18 at 11 a.m. at the New Westside Cemetery in Edgartown. Family and friends are invited to attend.

Arrangements are under the care of the Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home in Oak Bluffs.
