Michael D. Medeiros, 59, Was Veteran of Vietnam

Michael Daniel Medeiros of Tuscaloosa, Ala., died Friday evening, Dec. 9. He was 59 years old.

Mike was born in Fall River and moved to Tuscaloosa several years ago to be near his daughters. He was a Vietnam veteran and completed two tours of duty for his country with missions as a helicopter pilot.

He had an amazing zest for life, and it was evident through his entrepreneurial spirit. Mike was involved in several enterprises; among them, he owned and operated Cape Air Airlines based out of the Vineyard and was co-owner and captain of The Bama Belle in conjunction with his wife, Nikki.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Medeiros. He is survived by his mother Jeanne Brunetti; wife Nikki E. Medeiros; daughter Jessica Medeiros Garrison and her husband, Lee Garrison; daughter Michele Medeiros Sizemore; grandson Zachary Sizemore; sister Phyllis Cahoon and brother in law John Cahoon; niece Wendy Fournier and husband Paul Fournier; nephew John Cahoon and wife Melissa Cahoon, and a host of friends. He was dearly loved by his family and everyone who knew him.

A graveside service was held Wednesday, Dec. 14, at noon at the Portsmouth Cemetery in Rhode Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may sent to the M.S.P.C.A.
