Ruth Hazel McFadden Worked as Homemaker

Ruth Hazel (Sherman) McFadden of Edgartown and formerly of Beverly died peacefully Nov. 9 in the Martha's Vineyard Hospital following a stroke.

Ruth was born May 5, 1921, in Philadelphia, Pa., and grew up there, enjoying summers with her many Sherman relatives and friends in Troy, Pa.

During World War II, Ruth was a civilian worker in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. After the war, Ruth was primarily a homemaker, working part time as an administrative assistant in business.

She is survived by her husband, Edward, children, Edward Jr., Paul, Janet and Douglas McFadden, and grandchildren, Michael, Ross and Kalee McFadden and Julie Karaganis.

A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Beverly at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26.
