Joseph Jay Kelly, 21, Had Great Love for Cars

Joseph Jay Kelly of Edgartown died Sunday, Oct. 9. He was 21 years old. He was the beloved son of Martin and Darlene (Waters) Kelly Jr.

Joseph was born in Oak Bluffs on Sept. 12, 1984. Joseph was graduated from the Martha's Vineyard Regional High School in 2004 and had attended the Rebecca Amos Institute. He was a former cashier at Stop & Shop in Edgartown.

Joe had a great love for cars. His pride and joy was his 1979 Lincoln Continental Limited Edition, which was designed for pro football player Ron Butler.

In addition to his parents, Joe is survived by his brothers, Martin J. Kelly 3rd and Jordan Kelly, both of Edgartown, and his sister, Evonne Kelly of Edgartown; his maternal grandparents, Violet Waters of Edgartown and Charles F. Waters of Florida; and his paternal grandmother, Lillian Bush of Vineyard Haven. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Martin J. Kelly Sr. Joe is also survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 2 p.m. at the New Westside Cemetery in Edgartown with the Rev. Robert Edmunds officiating.
