Thomas J. Moore Sr., 86, Worked for Bell Telephone

Thomas J. Moore Sr. of Centerville died on Jan. 11 at the age of 86.

Mr. Moore was born in Boston on June 1, 1918 to Thomas and Cecelia Moore.

Mr. Moore was the husband of the late Constance (Mullaly) Moore and the late Ingrid (Uhlin) Moore. He attended Boston Latin High School, Tabor Academy , and graduated from New Bedford High School. He attended Northeastern University.

Mr. Moore had a 38-year career with the New England Bell Telephone Company. He began with New England Bell in Boston before moving with the company to Cape Cod and the Islands. He worked in the Hyannis and Vineyard Haven offices. He resided with his family on the Vineyard from 1962 to 1964. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and was a longtime communicant at St. Francis Xavier in Hyannis. He was a loving husband and father.

Surviving are four daughters, Moira Cabral of Marstons Mills, Jennifer Macho of West Milford, N.J., Sonja Lauro of Randolph, and Brenda Woodruff of Bridgeport, Tex.; four sons, Richard Malmgren of Centerville, Robert Moore of Tisbury, William Moore of Centerville, and Thomas J. Moore Jr. of Jamaica Plain, and 13 grandchildren. He was the beloved father of Pamela Murray who died in 2002.

A funeral mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Victory Church, 230 South Main street in Centerville on Saturday, Jan. 15 at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Road (Route 28) in Marstons Mills.
