Pauline E. Lee, 91, Was Known for Her Humor

Pauline E. Lee, died on Sunday, Feb. 29 at Windemere. She was 91 years old.

Born in Chicopee, nee Pauline Eugenie Fauteux, she was the daughter of Edmond and Eugenie (Daigneault) Fauteux. She resided in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield for 45 years before moving to Martha's Vineyard five years ago.

Pauline was a retired stenographer for the former Fisk Tire Co. of Chicopee. She was a communicant of the former Saint Matthews Church of Indian Orchard. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Magna Circle, Of Indian Orchard, and the Springfield Hobby Club. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Wallace F. Lee; who died in 1985, and by her brothers; Wilbrod, Arthur, Edgar, Oliver and Edmund Fauteux, all of Chicopee.

Known for her wit and spontaneous one-liners, she was an unofficial, and always cheerful greeter to any and all at Windemere. A candid family historian, she took and provided great delight in regaling her loved ones with her take on events both public, and formally quite private. Her loved ones, and we are many, are forever grateful for her dispensing these treasures so generously.

Her family is also forever grateful for the compassion and care so tirelessly given by the nurses, attendants and staff of Windemere. You are all unique and exemplary in your devotion to elder care.

Pauline is survived by her son Bob Lee, of West Tisbury; her grandson Daniel Lee, of Burlington Vt.; her sister in law Noriko Fauteux, of Chicopee; her cousin Gladys McCrea, of Temecula Calif.; and several nieces and nephews; their children and grandchildren.

Her wake was held at the Ratell Funeral Home. Following the Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Jude Church, she was interred in St. Patrick Cemetery in Chicopee. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew street, Springfield, MA 01104.
