Jeanette C. Penney, 69, Served Meals to Elderly

Jeanette C. Penney of East Chop Drive in Oak Bluffs died Wednesday, July 28, at Martha's Vineyard Hospital after a long battle with emphysema. She was 69.

For many years Jeanette was associated with the Cottage Crest Restaurant in Waltham. After moving to Martha's Vineyard she was employed by Elder Services as a site manager, serving noontime meals to the elderly, first at Hillside Village and later at Tisbury Senior Center until forced by her health to relinquish the position.

She is survived by her husband, Robert A. Penney Esq.; sons Joseph of Belmont and Steven of Newton; a daughter, Deborah, of Sudbury; a step-son, Dr. Robert A. Penney of Shelburne, Vt., seven grandchildren, and five brothers and sisters.

A graveside service in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Oak Bluffs will be held at a later date to be announced. Donations in Jeanette's memory may be made to Hospice of Martha's Vineyard, P.O. 2549, Oak Bluffs, MA 02557. Arrangements are under the care of Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home in Oak Bluffs.
