Robert S. Cook, 79, Was a Veteran of U.S. Navy

Robert S. Cook, 79, died at the Martha's Vineyard Hospital on Sept. 9. Mr. Cook was a lifelong resident of Everett until recently, when he moved closer to family to assist in his care.

Mr. Cook was born in Everett on Feb. 28, 1925 to the late Walter Leo and Gladys (Windsor) Cook. He was a graduate of Everett High School class of 1943. He proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Navy as a signalman on Navy tankers. He worked for many years for Eastern Gas & Fuel in Everett. Upon the plant closing, Mr. Cook worked for Greyhound Bus Co., first in baggage claim, before retiring as a ticket agent.

Mr. Cook was a coach for the Everett Little League for many years. Besides his love of sports he was also an avid card player.

He is survived by his brother, Walter L. Cook of Oak Bluffs; one nephew, David W. Cook of Oak Bluffs, and one niece Roberta Cook of Alexandria, Va. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 14, at 10:30 a.m. at the Glenwood Cemetery, Washington avenue, Everett. Arrangements are under the care of Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, Oak Bluffs.
