Marilyn J. Rebello Was a Woman of Deep Faith

Marilyn J. Rebello died Friday, August 20, at New England Medical Center in Boston. She was born on May 7, 1936, the eldest of five children born to Herbert and Martha (Lovell) Combra. She was a communicant of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, of which she was a Eucharistic Minister. Marilyn was led throughout her life by her strong faith.

She was married for 51 years to her childhood sweetheart, Anthony J. (Tubby) Rebello. They enjoyed a lifetime of love and accomplishments together. She was forever at Tubby's side; they owned and operated the Vineyard Wine Shop, and managed the Boston House Restaurant and other Circuit avenue businesses. Their last business venture together was Anthony's Restaurant on Beach Road in Oak Bluffs, which they successfully ran for several years. Marilyn's poise and grace greeted each patron at the doors, and immediately they knew they were in good hands. The devoted staff and patrons will long hold fond memories of Anthony's in their hearts. Marilyn's deep love of people, especially children, showed during her final years at the Flying Horses Carousel, where she worked side by side with her daughter, Robin.

Marilyn's many passions included spending time with her family and friends, showing her competitive nature playing cards, entertaining in her home, and she especially loved tending to her flowers in her yard.

She was a compassionate woman, whose door and heart were always open to anyone in need, whether on the Vineyard or during many of her fun-filled family vacations in Florida.

In her later years, friends could find her on the golf course at Farm Neck. She went on to win the Woman's Club House Championship, Third Flight, in 1997, an accomplishment of which she was very proud.

She is survived by her husband; her children, Robin Meader and husband, Danny, Anthony Rebello Jr., Todd Rebello and his wife, Mia, and her daughter in law, Lynn Rebello. She was predeceased by her son, Christopher Rebello. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Jared Meader and wife, Julie; Jaime and Willie Meader; Amanda (Rebello) Fenner and her husband, Keith; Tiffany, Michael, Adam, Jordan, Tim, James, Ashley and Joel Rebello; by her great-grandchildren, Hailey and Hunter Meader and Tegan Fenner; by her brothers, Herbert Combra Jr. and his wife, Hilde, Richard Combra and his wife, Dawn; her sister, Carol (Combra) Clark and her husband, Bob; her aunts, Vivian (Combra) DeBettencourt and her husband, Richard, and Anita Combra, and many nieces, nephews and beloved friends. She was also predeceased by a brother, Russell Combra.

Marilyn was laid to rest on Tuesday, August 24, in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Oak Bluffs, on a warm, sunny day in services attended by many of her family and friends.
