Daniel J. Valeriano Was Veteran, Restaurateur

Daniel J. Valeriano of Oak Bluffs died on Monday, Nov. 3, at the Martha's Vineyard Hospital. He was 80 years old. He was the beloved husband of Delores (Dee) Tinney Valeriano, with whom he shared 32 years of marriage.

Daniel was born in Providence, R.I., on August 11, 1923, a son of the late Felipe and Anniha (DaRosa) Valeriano. He grew up in Providence, Bridgeport and New Haven, Conn. He was graduated from St. Mary's High School in New Haven.

He served his country during World War II. He was the proprietor of Danny's Place restaurant in New Haven for many years. He was also active in the New Haven Elks Lodge.

Daniel and his wife moved permanently to Martha's Vineyard in 1985. He was avid fisherman and could often be found on his boat, the Sassy II, moored in the Oak Bluffs harbor.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four brothers, Silvino, Manuel, Edmund and Walter, all of New Haven; two sisters, Carlota Williams and Ruta Valeriano, both of New Haven, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Services will be private at the convenience of his family. Arrangements are under the care of the Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home in Oak Bluffs.
