Our pet of the week is Pepper, a 10-month-old, female, Plott hound. Pepper is a sweet, affectionate and very smart puppy. Training her is pretty easy. Plotts are an athletic breed of dog of medium size so we’re looking for an active home for this girl. As a bonus she gets along well with other dogs. Pepper is currently in a foster home so please contact the shelter if you would like to set up and appointment to meet her.

If you’re preference is for a cat come meet Benny, an eight-years-old, ragdoll mix with light blue eyes. We’re looking for a special angel for Benny as he suffers from diabetes and needs daily insulin injections, but there is a possibility that this may be able to be discontinued. Nevertheless, he is a charming, personable fellow who enjoys playing, is affectionate and quite the purrer.

The next nail clinic takes place this Saturday, April 6 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., walks ins only, $20 cash or check. The next visit by All Pet’s Medical Center is May 11. If you would like to schedule an appointment for your pet please contact them at 508-743-8338.

We are also looking for jewelry donations for our annual Garden Party. Donations should be dropped off at the shelter during business hours.

The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is here for our community. We’re always available and our door is always open should your adoption not be a perfect fit. Also, if anyone is in need of cat food, dog food, or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours.
