Mother Nature is playing with us once again. She teased us with warm spring weather and bam, back to the cold and wind and possible snow squalls. She will still stay in charge and always keep us on our feet, but we certainly enjoyed the nice weather we had for a while.

Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Daniel Bortolotto, Samson Ignacio, Pietra Munhoz, Kenner Neves and Ana Sodre, who all celebrated March 16; Alexandra DeMello, March 17; Isaac Allen, Davi Gomes Ferreira, Harlow Hannah, Caleb Lucier, March 19; Lucca Queiroz, March 20; Camilla Robinson, March 21; and to Henry Jackson, who celebrates his day today March 22.

Delmont Araujo was probably four or five years old when he walked into the bank with his sister Diamond and brother Dylan. His mom Rachel came in to do business and I would tease him when he got older that he was going to be my boyfriend. He grew up and met a girl named Jennifer and they married and created a coffee shop called Aquila that opened on the Cliffs in Aquinnah. They have since expanded and have a place at the YMCA. Lately they had been asking on social media for vintage vineyard mugs of the Island, but would not say what they were up to.

Then the Martha’s Vineyard Museum announced that Aquila will be taking over the First Light Café at the museum and will be using these mugs in the hopes of starting conversations among the visitors coming to have the coffee. It is a great idea and I am sure there will be many conversations and memories shared with each mug. Congratulations to all.

The League of Women Voters of Martha’s Vineyard is hosting a candidate forum for candidates running for office in Edgartown. The forum will be on Saturday, March 23, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Edgartown library. This is not a debate. Candidates running opposed will present their positions, answer questions asked by a moderator, and answer questions asked by the public. Candidates running unopposed will have a few minutes to speak and answer questions from the public. The forum will be recorded and televised at a later time on MVTV Channel 13 and on demand.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
