The West Tisbury select board voted to form a committee to investigate building needs at the town’s public safety building on State Road.

Completed in 2014, the building is home to the town police department along with fire and emergency services, but new requirements for worker bunking arrangements, building repairs and a plan to install rooftop solar panels all require attention from the town, said capital improvements planning committee member Kathy Logue at the select board meeting on Dec. 20.

“It’s not a feasibility study yet, we’re not at that point,” Ms. Logue. “This is more ‘let’s work some of these problems.’”

The board voted unanimously to create the committee, appointing Ms. Logue, fire chief Gregory Pachico and energy committee member Richard Andre as its first members.

The board also voted to reappoint Ernie Thomas as the town representative on the Martha’s Vineyard commission.

“I think he’s been doing an excellent job,” said board member Jeffrey (Skipper) Manter.
