Now that the COP 28 has dictated a transition away from fossil fuels, it’s time that our Steamship Authority begins charging more for big vehicles or less for smaller ones. Such policy could create some space on ferries so that bicycles could go aboard for free. Massachusetts commuter rail takes bikes for free on most trains, why not on our big boats? Vineyard shoppers could do errands in Falmouth, using the bike path, without a car reservation.

It won’t cost very much for the Steamship Authority to think. Then, they could act.
