The Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center commemorates Hanukkah this weekend with two free public events celebrating the 2,000-year old festival of lights.

At Menorahs, Music and a Miracle on Friday, Dec. 8 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., young congregants will perform in a play, menorahs will be lit and live music will be played by Eric Johnson and Anthony Esposito. Chef Ting of Black Joy Food Love will cater dinner. The event is free but reservations are required.

To show solidarity for people worldwide who are celebrating the holiday but also suffering, Friday’s event will feature ministers from the faith communities at First Congregational Church of West Tisbury, Grace Episcopal Church and the Unitarian Universalist Society of Martha’s Vineyard.

The celebration continues on Sunday, Dec. 10 with Hanukkah and All That Jazz. From 4 to 5:30 p.m., the all-ages festivities will include a menorah lighting, live music and treats.

All are welcome to these non-denominational celebrations. More information is available at mvhc.us.
