As Thanksgiving approaches, this weekend offers an opportunity to show some gratitude for nature with the Vineyard Conservation Society.

On Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m., the organization is hosting one of its monthly Beach BeFrienders Monthly Beach Cleanup, in collaboration with Island libraries and the Martha’s Vineyard Refuse District.

Each month the BeFrienders choose another beach to give some love to. On Saturday, Cedar Tree Neck Sanctuary is the place to be.

Cedar Tree Neck is a Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation property on Obed Daggett Road in West Tisbury. The sanctuary sits on 400 acres, and its winding trails lead down to the Vineyard Sound.

Meet at the parking lot on Saturday; for more information, call 508-693-9588.

Then press repeat next month, tending to a different beach with the same spirit of thankfulness.
