Although we have no adoptions to report this week, our featured pets are Peter and Teddy, one-year-old, black male rabbits who just want someone to cuddle with. These two have been hand-raised and are litter box-trained. Peter is friendly, calm and affectionate, while Teddy is more energetic, curious and feisty. And both adore being held and cuddled. Additionally, they’re happy living indoors or out.

Also available is a very sweet but shy two-year-old tabby and white girl named Sparkle. She is up to date on vaccines, spayed and ready to go to her new forever home.

Did you know our shelter is not an emergency facility, however, we receive many emergency calls? Oftentimes vacationers and locals dealing with pet emergencies will call us first. We can assist them in getting, or directing them to, the help they need in an expedient fashion.

The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is here for our community. We are always available and our door is always open should your adoption not be a perfect fit. Also, if anyone is in need of cat food, dog food or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours.

The shelter phone number is 508-627-8662. Hours are: Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Thursday; 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
