The adoption news of the week is that Jasmine, the long-haired, gray/dilute calico cat, has an adoption pending. Fingers crossed for a happy life.

Hop, hop, hop: our featured pets this week are Peter and Teddy, one-year-old, black, male rabbits who want to hop their way into your heart and home. These two have been hand-raised and are litter box-trained. Peter is friendly, calm and affectionate, while Teddy is more energetic, curious and feisty. But both love to be cuddled, and they’re happy living indoors or out.

Do you know we get many calls about lost and found animals for which we keep a written log? Callers are advised to contact their town’s animal control officer, and to actively use social media to advertise/collect data for these pets.

The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is here for our community. We’re always available and our door is always open should your adoption not be a perfect fit. Also, if anyone is in need of cat food, dog food, or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours.

The shelter phone number is 508-627-8662. Hours are: Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Thursday; 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
