Editors, Vineyard Gazette;

My husband and I want to thank Deborah Potter, town administrator for Oak Bluffs, for providing public chargers for our electric car during our month stay on the Vineyard — it made it possible for our family to enjoy a really special holiday together.

However, it was clear that there are too few chargers on the Island to accommodate the number of electric cars, which made it a challenge to keep our car charged — a problem that is sure to only get worse as the numbers of visitors increase in July and August.

To ensure the Vineyard remains an attractive destination for seasonal renters such as us, in addition to providing more public chargers, landlords of rental properties should consider installing chargers. In the future, a car charger at the rental property, or in close proximity, will be a requirement for our family, and I’m sure many others.
