Healthy Aging MV, the Island Disability Coalition and the Dukes County Commission have launched Beach within Reach, an Islandwide survey to determine the level of accessibility at local beaches.

The survey consists of 14 questions and seeks information on a wide range of accessibility issues including the availability of parking, number of spots designated as being accessible, existence of an accessible route from the beach entrance to the water’s edge and the availability of beach and floating wheelchairs. The questionnaire is being sent to each Island town, county officials and The Trustees of Reservations, Martha's Vineyard Land Bank and Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation. Responses will be due in two weeks.
