Applications are available for writers and artists interested in participating in the Renaissance Retreat for Writers and Artists, a residential retreat program, at Renaissance House in Oak Bluffs. A commuter program is available for Island residents. The deadline for applications is May 1.

Renaissance House is a program of the of the Helene Johnson and Dorothy West Foundation for Artists in Need. The Renaissance Retreat for Writers and Artists celebrates the spirit of Ms. Johnson and Ms. West, both of whom were Harlem Renaissance writers. The retreats are intended to support issue-oriented writers, writers of color and writers committed to social justice.

Weeklong residencies will be held from June 4 through July 8. The retreat sessions include daily instructional workshops, individualized editorial advice, cultural events and time and space for creative work. Housing is offered as a single or double room and breakfast and dinner are provided.
