The Harbor View Hotel will ring in the new year by briefly closing.

“The hotel and restaurants are planning some facility updates and off-season upkeep that necessitates the closing,” Edgartown town administrator James Hagerty told the select board Monday, reading from a letter submitted by Harbor View general manager Scott Little.

The board approved the hotel’s application to close for a month, from Jan. 2 until Feb. 2.

The hotel will also have a hearing with the Edgartown select board about alterations to its alcohol license on Nov. 22.

In other business Monday, the select board approved three excavation permits for Evergreen Landscape and a request to remove a tree at 16 Silva Lane.

The board also approved a $12,500 mini-grant for aquaculture and shellfish propagation related to the town’s municipal shellfish program.

“That’ll be great,” select board member Margaret Serpa said.
