At this time, the Island animal shelter remains open for official business and by appointment only.

We’re sorry to report that there were no adoptions this week, but we’re always optimistic.

This week we’re featuring our adorable guinea pigs. We currently have four looking for homes, two girls and two boys. The girls are sisters, about four months old. Miss T is brown with a perfect white T on her face. Bonnie is a calico who is mostly white with black with a little bit of caramel.

The girls have been hand raised and are very friendly. The boys are older and both are calico. Rick is half white and half black and caramel, while Purr is primarily caramel with a bit of black and a white face. They also have been hand raised and are super friendly. Purr got his name because he likes to purr. All would make excellent pets, they’re some of the friendliest we’ve had here.

As for cats, Summer, the Ragdoll mix, is still waiting for someone to fall in love with her. Come meet her and see if she could be the one.

The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is here for our community. We’re always available and our door is always open should your adoption not be a perfect fit. If anyone is in need of cat food, dog food, or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours. The phone number is 508-627-8662.
