Martha's Vineyard school children made a strong showing in this year's Sail Into Imagination children's artwork calendar contest sponsored by the Steamship Authority.

The cover of the 2021 calendar was drawn by 7-year-old Anderson Cramer of the Oak Bluffs Elementary School, and artwork by his 9-year-old sister and schoolmate Charlotte Cramer was selected for January.

Another Oak Bluffs family had three winners: Fourth-grader Elise Laird and second-grader Byron Laird drew the pictures selected for July and August, respectively, and fourth-grader Ava Laird's work was named most expressive.

Edgartown fourth-grader Hudson Lowry created the artwork chosen for October and classmate Addison Shemit's work was named most imaginative.

Oak Bluffs kindergartner Leya LaBell was honored for best use of color, while artwork by Nevah Fitzgerald, a fifth-grader at Martha’s Vineyard Public Charter School, was named most innovative.

Children from Cape Cod and Nantucket also saw their contributions included and honored. Calendars are available at Steamship Authority terminals while supplies last.
