The Martha’s Vineyard Film Society’s Environmental Film Festival opens on Thursday, May 25 with the Bullish Farmer, a documentary about a Wall Street banker turned sustainable farmer. The movie begins at 7:30 p.m., with a reception starting at 6:30 p.m.

And then it’s off to the races with four days of films about the environment. There will also be numerous speakers, events, food, art and music all taking place at the Martha’s Vineyard Film Center, 79 Beach Road in Vineyard Haven.

Before the Flood stars Leonardo DiCaprio on his journey around the world to witness climate change firsthand. Reefs at Risk showcases the damaging effects of sunscreen on coral reefs. Awake: A Dream from Standing Rock takes viewers to the Standing Rock standoff.

But this is just a very small peek at the films coming to the Island next week. For a complete list of films and events, from May 25 through May 28, visit mvfilmsociety.com/nature-as-inspiration.
