Dear Mr. President:

We would like you to be aware that on August 6, the projected day of your arrival here on Martha’s Vineyard, a group of Islanders and visitors will gather at 6 a.m. as we have done for many years at or near the Gay Head light in Aquinnah, to rededicate ourselves with song and prayer to the cause of peace, remembering the significance of Hiroshima Day. We reach out to welcome you to join us, in spirit at least, recognizing the daunting logistics that may prevent your physical presence with us.
