This letter is long overdue. For three years in a row now, the emergency food program coordinated through Martha’s Vineyard Center for Living has been the recipient of our local Stop & Shop Food for Friends annual holiday food donations, as well as the proceeds from the sale of their holiday donation boxes.

The result of this amazing community partnership has been an increase in food available during the holidays through our five emergency food distribution sites, located at the four senior centers and the Island Food Pantry at the Baptist Church in Vineyard Haven. This year 300 donation boxes were distributed for Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday meals. In addition, Stop & Shop has donated over $2,500 which will support expansion of the emergency food program in the coming year.

We are grateful to Stop & Shop, Mary Mcevoy, Edgartown Stop & Shop manager and her ever helpful crew for their dedication to feeding those in need on Martha’s Vineyard. Thank you.
