The animal shelter would like to wish all creatures a very happy 2016. Our wish for the new year is that all homeless animals find their forever homes, and that any stray animals are reunited with their families.

Meet Beauty. — Alison L. Mead

Our cat room residents are Nicholas, the friendly nine-year-old black and gray tabby, 11-year-old white and black boy Chaps, whose markings are quite striking, and orange elder statesman Milo, whose adoption fee will be waived due to his age. Beauty, the seven-year-old black and silver long-haired female, is hanging out with the shelter staff while she waits for her new owner to find her.

The shelter is housing two canine residents. Bob Marley is a three-year-old Labrador retriever/boxer mixed breed. He is medium size, short-haired, very friendly and playful. We also have an 18-month-old male golden retriever pup called Charlie, who would love to find a family of his own. He will be ready to leave once he has been neutered. There must a be a golden lover out there ready to give this boy a home.

Soon to be joining us is Bubbles, a seven-year-old white and brown male English bulldog. He is a sweet, well-behaved guy who will also need to be neutered before joining his new forever home.

Shelter hours are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday and Monday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.
