Vineyard Birth Collective, an online resource serving the Island community of birth practitioners, expectant parents and growing families, was recently launched at www.vineyardbirthcollective.org.

The website hosts a comprehensive directory of local pregnancy, birth, and postpartum-related services, as well as state resources, community programs and a blog featuring original content, practitioner interviews and relevant guest posts. Sponsored events, including the monthly Community Potluck for Expectant Parents and New Families, will begin in January 2016.

The group was formed in early 2015 by a group of Island women interested in sharing helpful birth and pregnancy resources and connecting area practitioners to women and families in need of support. Founding members include nurses, midwives, doulas, educators, counselors, practitioners and mothers.

The mission of the collective is to empower women and families living on Martha’s Vineyard to make informed choices surrounding childbirth, pregnancy and the postpartum period.
