A big thanks to everyone who has participated so far in the new Community Groceries Program launched this summer at Cronig’s. It has been an amazing success — in August and September we raised almost $1,800 worth of groceries to distribute to the local food pantries. A special thanks to the Chilmark Tavern for their dine-to-donate week in October which raised an additional $1,500. Wow. And to the guy who buys one of everything each time he shops — so great. The first of our monthly distributions of the groceries you all bought forward will be at Serving Hands in Vineyard Haven on Oct. 23 — organic milk, fresh organic broccoli and spinach, olive oil, organic pasta and organic frozen strawberries — lots of great food for our neighbors in need. To participate, next time you visit Cronig’s ask to add any of the six Community Groceries items to your order at the checkout counter. You pay for the items then and they will be delivered to the pantries later that month. And thank you!
